  1. actually that is not the devil, but the moon behind a cloud, but i if you believe in god, then god would have known that someone is going to take this picture from that angle behind a church and people may see it as a sign, which would then be on put the on internet for many other to see and who may also see it as a sign, and he would have known i, one of his creation, would make this comment on this website one day, as god knows all, and as it says in bible god knows about every leaf that falls from the tree and quran god knows where every rain drop drops and knows its path bo the rive, for god is god omnipotent, indescribable capable of more than our greatest imaginations can imagine.

  9. You all must repent! God will punish you in hell for you disbelief and your blasphemy of astronomy. Also, photography is neither Christian or God-fearin’. May you all fall off the edge the flat earth.

  10. This is an incredible picture however you look at it. If you go along with popular believe that satan has horns a spade tail and carries a pitch fork, well then all the better for him as you think you are safe.

    @Genecide

You easily take things out of content. Read the whole Bible with an open mind and understanding of when the diffrent parts were written. Understand that culture has changed many times in all parts of the world and the Bible reflects those cultures in a sense.

  11. *sigh* I believe this is a solar eclipse. The title I think was meant to be humorous and ironic, not offensive. As a professional photographer I would like to say that this is a great shot. If we could look at this for what it is, a great wild photo, and leave the social commentary out, I think everyone would create the illusion that they were mature cultured people. Good luck.

  12. Actually that is me. I’ve been spying on that church for quite some time now, seems like a good opportunity to corrupt and deprave. And, for the record, it is not men who are responsible for the evils and bad deeds in the world; thats all me. Men are nothing more than mindless pawns in this great game of creation.

    Great shot by the way.

  13. I don’t believe in God nor the Devil. I know for a fact how amazing and powerful nature can be. So there. We are naturally capable of creating a camera, and nature’s capable of making the sun do that, and we can save it forever more for others to see.
What does the chucrch have to do? I dunno, religion is an invention that helps to instruct goodness on people, but most people don’t think it’s for that. They use it for killing others and feeling superior and stuff.
It’s a good picture, Godfull or Godless

Chill out with all the God stuff, there’s actually no need for religion anymore

  29. and so you all meet The Problem of Evil. How can God be omnipotent, omni present and omnisient (may be spelt wrong) while evil exists in the world? Christians teach that the problem of evil is within the of god, and that God created evil, and the devil, as without evil, there would be no choice and no way of judging us at the eschaton after the parousia (sexy greek, look it up).

However, non christians say there will say that evil is intrinsically part of us (Thomas Aquinus said that too) and that we are all out to do either intrinsic good, or intrinisic bad. (here he is, the big man) Thomas aquinus taught we are all intrinsically good. and that we make evil decisions and do evil on the grounds of apparent good. Augustine, however, taught that we are all wired for bad, and that we choose the right choice out of personal gain.

Which opinion is right? No body can tell you that for definate, i like to (along with Thomas Aquinus at times) call it a Holy Mystery. It will all become apparent when you die who is right. something to look forward to ay?

    hope you enjoyed that

  32. Its not the freakin’ moon, its the sun - it’s a solar eclipse - and anyway why does everyone see the devil ? - why not a giant banana in the hands of King-Kong. This is an old photo. I think I saw it in the National Geographic magazine years ago

  34. Has anyone thought that maybe its actually God’s big golden cock? Maybe he’s just trying to draw in a new crowd with that massive thing! It doesn’t always have to do with the bible, the porn industry is getting pretty huge these days ya know!

  35. This photo reminds me of the time in church as a teenager when I was an acolyte. At our church the High School acolytes got dressed up in their robes and sat behind the two or three candles they were assigned to light.

I was the only one at the correct height to make the candle flames look like fiery horns coming out of my head.

And now I’ve gone and converted to Daoism, 10 years later.

Maybe that was a sign too. *cough*Onlyifyou’reacalvinist*cough*

  36. Dearest Atheist,
God did not merely know that you and I have posted our views on the article but He is the one who has done it. For He and you are not different but one. It is illusion (or Maya) which is separating You from Yourself. He is the doer and our ego (which by itself is unreal) is the witness but the ego feels that it is the doer and God if at all he exists is the witness. Since we associate ourselves with the ego we are constrained and go through the motions of pleasure and pain. Associate yourself with God and you know that things just happen there is no individual doer there of.

  41. Actually agod, it was Maria who said she converted to ‘Daoism’ but you’re right, I was going to correct her spelling. Although Daoism is an accepted spelling for some reason, I think it is just because of the westernization of the philosophy.

  52. For all of you to remember, Church was, is and will remain the only source drives evil (demon)out of human, as is been said in Bible, when JESUS healed a man possessed by demon, Luke: 8:26-39. further more when muhammed did read this verse, he commanded muslims not to eat pig meat may demon possess them as well.
I think Julian Beever himdelf been possessed by demon thats why he put title “Devil at church”.
I would rather say “Julian at church”
He may get healing without confusing bunch naive commetators here.
Please do not reply if you don’t read the bible.

Julian is forgiven for his intentional act, as Jesus the king of gloy forgave his crucifiers

    Thank you

  56. One thing confuses me about religious people. They can accept that god has always been there and no one created him. But they can’t accept that nature / the universe has always been there and no one created it. What’s so different about believing in the latter? Why does it seem so much more improbable? Why is it that someone HAS to have created the universe but no one HAS to have created god? Just rational thinking here.. because frankly no one has any proof whether either theory is correct. Jesus could have been real, or he could have been a Kriss Angel 2000 years ago. For those who don’t know Kriss Angel is an illusionist who has walked on water and made things as big as elephants appear and disappear - bread and wine wouldnt really be a problem. Exorcism, curing blindness, etc are also easily rigged - plenty of crazy cult leaders claim to have these types of “holy” powers even these days and plenty of people believe them.

Similarly natural events can be interpreted as random or intentional by god, again with no proof from either side. (although argument is flimsy here for religion - bad guy dies and its karma from god, good guy dies and its ok because he will be admitted to heaven… then why doesnt god make bad guys die sooner instead of landing them in life imprisonments as surely hell is more punishment than prison, and why dont the good guys also die sooner because heaven is waiting?)

But also when you consider things like the fact that there are over 900,000 species of insects you do start wondering how the hell could that have had any purpose. Seriously, how bored was god?

and PLEASE stop quoting the bible as proof. its a book. People wrote them. People collaborate. People lie. People rig events. If god wants us to believe, in the modern day it cant get any simpler, with modern communication technologies such as TVs and the level of science we have achieved we can easily identify if a prophet is real or fake.

And why is belief even important? i dont believe in god. but i have morals. i dont kill, i dont rob, i dont steal, i help people when they need help, etc etc. but i deserve hell, or purgatory period just for not believing in god when he’s presented me no proof? Because in all honesty that sounds like a narrow-minded act of keeping out people who dont like him - makes no sense when you consider what he’s supposed to be. It is however perfect to draw believers to the religion (what better way than “eternal damnation in which you will suffer unimaginably awaits you if you dont believe in what i tell you”).
