David Mach’s Coathanger Gorilla

Doing the rounds on the internets today is David Mach’s awesome Coathanger Gorilla.

I had the idea to work with coathangers for a long time but I put off using them. They come from the same line as matches. They are like nothing, you pay them no attention, they have no value, if anything they are an irritant brought back from the dry cleaners. They’re cheap and throwaway. I stalled using them because I knew it would be a long, expensive, painful process to turn them into something. I was already involved in many similar processes, I didn’t need one more. However, after a while I couldn’t resist using them.

  12. I think this the best thing Mach has done! forcing realism out of ridiculously unsympathetic materials.
