Spanish Castle Optical Illusion

Stare at the dot in the centre of the video until it switches you’ll notice that the photo is in colour, what happens when you move your eyes?

You’ll notice that the second image is actually in black & white.

  2. This works through what is called “Successive Contrast”. Basically the cones in the retina in the back of your eye are ‘burned out’ by staring at a negative of the colours you will see later. When the image changes, some of your cones are exhausted and give a weaker response to the light hitting them. And yes, I do need to get a life! :-)
